2017 Sabbatical Project, Maricopa Community College District funded. Traveled to Bosnia and Herzegovina to meet and interview 39 artists who make art on social justice themes.

Fulbright-Hays Faculty Development Program, Bosnia and Herzegovina/Albania.
Traveled to Bosnia and Herzegovina for 3 weeks and Albania for 1 week to learn about European Muslim culture and art.

Two year apprenticeship in 100 year old company. Made early American folk style crockery on the potter’s wheel.
